Rosa Lillian Vickery, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:44 A.M., Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the Skilled Care Unit of Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Rosa was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church of Du Quoin. She was also a member of the Hope Rebekah Lodge. She was a member of the USA Freedom Corps RSVP and was awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award.
She was born January 9, 1927 at Du Quoin, IL the daughter of William and Maude (Tackett) Stroud.
She married Edgar Otis Vickery on June 9, 1943 at Perry County. He passed away September 23, 1990.
She is survived by a daughter- Pam Swallers and husband Walter of Du Quoin, sister- Maude Cook of Du Quoin, brother- Charles Stroud of Du Quoin, grandchildren- Lisa Cavitt and husband Bryan, Deanne Sims and husband Charles, Tim Swallers and wife Kelly and Aaron Swallers, great grandchildren- Amanda, Matthew, Zackary, Blake, Alexandria, Victoria and Samantha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Loren Vickery, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Silas Morgan officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
